[Ascend] - Day 17

“Hope in the Lord”

Read:

John 14:1-7

1 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. 4 And you know the way to where I am going.” 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”

Reflection:

Going deeper is seeing beyond your current situation. In the midst of life’s storms and uncertainties, Jesus assures us of hope and solace in Him. Jesus goes before us to prepare a place for us in the Father’s house. Some people unfortunately, never get to experience the peace and security a home can offer. Home is a place of turmoil and strife rather than love and comfort. For a lot of young people these days, the dream of owning a place to call home seems to be just that, a dream. The Gospel reminds us that our home is not here but an eternal home awaits us, prepared by Jesus Himself. In Jesus, we have hope that despite whatever our circumstances may be today, we get to experience peace, joy, and love for eternity.

Pray:

Ask the Holy Spirit to bring someone to mind who needs to encounter Jesus as the Way, Truth, and Life.
